STORIESALIVE PRIVACY POLICY

We have developed this Privacy Policy to provide transparency into our privacy practices and principles in a format that is easy to read and understand. The Effective Date of the Privacy Policy is March 1, 2012. This Privacy Policy describes our policies on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information in connection with your use of our websites, emails, and mobile applications (“Site”). The terms “we,” “us,” and “StoriesAlive” refer to Auryn, Inc., a Delaware corporation with its principal offices at 6033 West Century Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90045. When you use the Site, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

The Website (www.stories-alive.com)

We collect and store a limited amount of information from or about you.

  1. The information we do collect is limited to what you provide us when you request information through the Site. (e.g. if an author submits a book we store the name of the author, any associated fields they submitted and their email address).
  2. In case you contact us for customer service, we also collect your email address and the nature of any issues you are experiencing with the use of our products, but we do this solely for the purpose of responding directly on a one-time basis to a specific inquiry. All email addresses collected for this purpose are deleted within 10 business days after use.

The Site may contain links to unaffiliated third party app stores or websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. We recommend you read the privacy policies on all such third party stores and websites.

We may share user information in the aggregate with third parties, such as authors, illustrators, publishers, licensors of content and distributors. For example, we may disclose the number of users that have downloaded or purchased our products and the aggregate amounts paid by such users.

We may investigate and disclose information from or about you if we have a good faith belief that such investigation or disclosure is (i) reasonably necessary to comply with legal process and law enforcement instructions and orders, such as a search warrant, subpoena, statute, judicial proceeding, or other legal process served on us; (ii) helpful to prevent, investigate, or identify possible wrongdoing in connection with the Site; or (iii) necessary to protect our rights, reputation, property, or that of our users, affiliates, or the public.

 

The StoriesAlive App

When a user contacts us for customer support, we collect your email address and the nature of any issues you are experiencing, but we do this solely for the purpose of responding directly on a one-time basis to a specific inquiry. All email addresses collected for this purpose are deleted within 10 business days after use.

If a user buys subscription or downloads a story within our bookstore, we track the stories and the subscription bought by the user so we can service that account and provide the appropriate reading experience for the user.

We do not collect any information about the location of your mobile device. Further, we do not collect personally identifiable information and, therefore, we do not rent, share, sell, or trade such information with third parties.

We may share information from you with subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under common control, in which case we will require them to honor this Privacy Policy. If another company acquires Auryn, Inc. or all or substantially all of its assets, that company will possess the same information, and we will request but cannot ensure that the buyer will assume the rights and obligations with respect to that information as described in this Privacy Policy.

No method of transmission over the internet or via mobile device, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, however. Therefore, while we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

 

Data Retention

We will retain data you submit to us only for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose for which the data was submitted (e.g., to respond to a customer service inquiry). Other information we collect (e.g., transaction data ) will be retained in perpetuity so we can continue to service you with the books that you have bought.

California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you are entitled by law to request an Information Sharing Disclosure. If you request it, we will provide you with a notice of your right to prevent sharing of your personal information as well as a cost-free means of doing so. To receive such a notice, submit a request to the address listed above, specifying that you seek your “California Customer Choice Notice.” Please allow thirty days for a response.

 

Modifications to this Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version of the Privacy Policy will govern our use of your information and will be located here. If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by posting a notice on the Site prior to the effective date of the changes. By continuing to access or use the Site after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.
